1 Samuel 13:6
“When the Israelites saw
that their situation was critical and that their army was hard pressed, they
hid in caves and thickets, among the rocks, and in pits and cisterns.”
Continuing
with our theme this week being women after God’s own heart, we see the Israelites
being fearful to fight the Philistines. They are so scared that some attempted
to cross back over the Jordan River.
They were so badly oppressed that at the first sight of trouble and
opposition they were ready to run back to the dysfunction that they had become
accustom to. They would rather go backwards than to move forward because moving
forward would take a lot of work and struggle on their part. If they were to go back, they may be
oppressed but the struggle of moving forward would not be present for there was
no forward, they would simply exist.
In
order to be a woman after God’s own heart we must understand that God wants us
to move forward even if it is hard, for this is where faith kicks in. Chuck Swindoll says it this way “The
beautiful thing about this adventure called faith is that we can count on Him
never to lead us astray.” God desires us to trust him as he leads us. He want’s us to take off the shackles that
have us bound. God can loose them, but you must take them off. It is a slap in the face to God to run back
to something he has delivered you from. Yes, you may be safe, but not forward
moving, you just exist. To be a woman after God’s own heart, we have to live a
life that is full of trust in him that the only option that we have is to live
a wonderful, blessed and fabulous life, for this is what God desires from us.
It doesn’t mean a perfect life, it doesn’t mean a rich life, but God does not
want us to live a sad, depressed life full of moments of looking back. He want’s us to live looking forward and not
just looking forward but proceeding forward!
God Bless you and remember to go as far as God is willing to take you.
