NAMES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT-Counselor

Counselor

Romans 8:26-27
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

The Holy Spirit comforts, counsels and gives strength to the believer in difficult times. He wants us to turn to Him when we are in trouble and when we are weak, knowing, that he is interceding with us and for us.  Paraclete in the Greek means he is our advocate; he is our strength and will fight for us. The Holy Spirit was sent to come alongside of us, and helps us in our day-to-day walk. It’s the Spirit that when we don’t know what to even pray for that is interceding for us, John 14:16 and 17 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” In fact not only do we have the Holy Spirit interceding for us we have Christ himself interceding for us.  The bible records he is on the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf (Romans 8:34) The scriptures above should call us into a spirit of gratefulness. It’s not a license to sin but it reminds us that even in our faults, even in our mistakes, even in our fears, even in our shortcomings there is a God in heaven that loved us enough to step off of his throne and make himself flesh so he could dwell with us…. and not just dwell with us but die for us. Then he sent an advocate to walk along side us to comfort us in the time of trouble.  Then the son sits at the right hand reminding  the Father that our sins are forgiven through his blood.  What a mighty God we serve. To God be the glory, great things he has done!  Our challenge today is to remember when we are faced with difficult circumstances that we serve a God that sits high and looks low, and know matter what we are going through God is able and not just able but he is interceding for you and me with His power and might.

Let’s pray together, God we thank you for the fact that we know that it’s your Holy Spirit that is making a way for us.  Sometimes that way is a way that we can see and sometimes that way is a way that we can’t see, but we believe by faith that whatever we face in life you will and have made a way because you love us and are interceding for us. Thank you for your grace and thank you for your mercy in Jesus name we pray…. Amen!

Have a great day in Jesus!

Juanita Thomas: Fruit Of The Spirit-Self Control

Juanita Thomas: Fruit Of The Spirit-Self Control: Self-Control Galatians 5:22-But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulne...

Fruit Of The Spirit-Self Control

Self-Control
Galatians 5:22-But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.

Self Control is to restrain one’s emotions, actions, and desires, and to be in harmony with the will of God.  Self-control is doing God’s will, not living for one’s self.  Titus 2:11,12 says for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say ”No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Self-control will have you hold your tongue when you don’t want to. Self-control will have you resist giving someone the middle finger salute when they cut you off on the freeway. Self-control will have you submitted to the will of God when you don’t understand what he is doing or why he is doing it.  Self Control is one of the biggest signs that you are in check spiritually. It is the fruit that drives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. You can’t love someone if you are out of control; you can’t have joy if the self-control in you gives in to the doubt of the enemy. You can’t have peace if the self-control in you insists on having a pity party. You can’t be kind and reflect goodness or be faithful or reflect gentleness if the self control in you doesn’t allow you to help someone, do what you are suppose to do and speak a soft word to someone who is in need.  If you have the fruit of self-control abounding in you then the other fruits of the Spirit will be that much easier to flow in. Self-control in its simplest form is behaving well.

God Bless you and remember to go as far as God is willing to take you!

Pastor Juanita Thomas: Fruit Of The Spirit-Gentleness

Juanita Thomas: Fruit Of The Spirit-Gentleness: Gentleness Galatians 5:22-But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness...

Fruit Of The Spirit-Gentleness

Gentleness
Galatians 5:22-But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.

Gentleness is humble non-threatening demeanor that derives from a positing of strength and authority, and is useful in calming another’s anger.  Gentleness is not a quality that is weak or passive. Proverbs 15:1 tells us that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. In the world that we live in, there are so many people that are anger, frustrated and just mean. It’s hard to find someone that will hold the door for you, or say a kind word to you without a motive behind it. But the word of God tells the Christian that there is an expectation of Gentleness in the face of obstacles and frustration.  Don’t get me wrong it is not always easy to keep a smile on your face when people are not returning the kindness but it is a challenge from God that we produce the fruit of Gentleness. I have found in my personal life that this type of fruit requires some deep breath’s….some thinking before you speak and some guidance of the Holy Spirit the extends beyond your outward expressions to your tongue. The world may have an expectation of us like” be strong,” ” be tough,” don’t take any mess,” “let them have it”….but God’s expectation is for us to be humble, calm and non-threatening.  That doesn’t mean that we are not strong and touch but it does mean that we must do it while being humble and calm.

God Bless you and remember to go as far as God is willing to take you!
