Self-Control
Galatians 5:22-But the Fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there
is no law.
Self Control is to restrain one’s emotions, actions,
and desires, and to be in harmony with the will of God. Self-control is doing God’s will, not living
for one’s self. Titus 2:11,12 says for
the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ”No” to ungodliness and worldly
passions, and to live self controlled, upright and godly lives in this present
age. Self-control will have you hold your tongue when you don’t want to. Self-control
will have you resist giving someone the middle finger salute when they cut you
off on the freeway. Self-control will have you submitted to the will of God
when you don’t understand what he is doing or why he is doing it. Self Control is one of the biggest signs that
you are in check spiritually. It is the fruit that drives love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. You can’t love
someone if you are out of control; you can’t have joy if the self-control in
you gives in to the doubt of the enemy. You can’t have peace if the self-control
in you insists on having a pity party. You can’t be kind and reflect goodness
or be faithful or reflect gentleness if the self control in you doesn’t allow
you to help someone, do what you are suppose to do and speak a soft word to
someone who is in need. If you have the
fruit of self-control abounding in you then the other fruits of the Spirit will
be that much easier to flow in. Self-control in its simplest form is behaving
well.
God Bless you and remember to go as far as God is
willing to take you!
